myJourney — Privacy Policy

myJourney ("the app") is built and run by a single independent developer. This page explains what information the app collects, why, and how it's used. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run your account and, if you choose to use them, group adventures with friends — nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.

Information you provide directly

• Account details — an email address and password (if you sign up that way), or the identifier Google/Apple provide when you use "Sign in with Google" / "Sign in with Apple" instead. Your display name and, if you set one, a profile photo.
• Adventures you create or join — a name, a start and end location (as place names and coordinates you choose, e.g. "Penang" → "Singapore"), a distance goal, and an optional cover photo.
• Group adventure progress — if you join a friend's group adventure, a single rolled-up distance number (how far you've contributed) syncs to our server so the group can see combined progress. This is the only run/workout data that ever leaves your device.

Health & fitness data

myJourney reads your walking/running distance from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) — only with your explicit permission, granted through the OS's own permission prompt. The app never writes anything back to Health/Health Connect.

Your full workout history stays on your device. It is never uploaded to our server. The only exception is the single rolled-up contribution number described above, and only for adventures you've chosen to share with a group.

Location

If you start or join a "landmark badge" adventure, the app asks for your location once, to confirm which country you're starting from (some badge adventures are restricted to people starting in the same country as their teammates). This isn't continuous location tracking — it's used at that moment, and only the resulting country is stored, not ongoing GPS data.

Sign-in with Google or Apple

If you choose either option, Google or Apple shares with us only what's needed to create your account: a unique identifier, and — if you allow it — your name and email address. We never see your Google or Apple password. See Google's or Apple's own privacy policy for how they handle that on their end.

What we don't do

• No advertising, and no ad or analytics SDKs are built into the app.
• We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites.

Where your data lives

Data is stored on a server we run ourselves — not a third-party analytics or ad platform. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Photos you upload (avatar, adventure cover photos) are stored on that same server.

Your choices

• You can sign out at any time from the Profile tab.
• You can leave a group adventure at any time — your account stops having access to it, though the distance you already contributed stays counted in that group's total (it doesn't retroactively disappear from a shared goal your friends are still working toward).
• To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us using the details below.

Children

myJourney is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
